Champion Player and Mentor

Shataya McComb's basketball journey is a testament to her unwavering passion for the game and her commitment to shaping the next generation of athletes. From her groundbreaking achievements on the court to her impactful coaching career, Shataya's influence extends far beyond the hardwood.

  • Early Success  

    Shataya's basketball odyssey began at Kingston High School in 2006, where she propelled her team to unprecedented heights. As a key member of the first team in Kingston's history to reach the Final Four, Shataya showcased her tenacity and skill, earning her a place in local basketball lore. Her record-breaking performance of 9 steals in a single game stands as a testament to her defensive prowess and determination.

    Collegiate Triumphs

    Continuing her basketball journey at Delhi University from 2007 to 2009, Shataya left an indelible mark on the court. With a total of 701 points and 349 rebounds, she established herself as a force to be reckoned with. Her stellar play garnered national attention, ranking her 12th in the nation in NJCAA Division III with an impressive average of 18.7 points per game. Recognized for her excellence, Shataya earned distinctions such as First Team All MVC and Second Team All-Region, along with the prestigious title of SUNY Delhi Female Athlete of the Year. Transitioning to Alverno College from 2009 to 2011, Shataya continued to excel as both a player and leader. In her inaugural year, she played a pivotal role in guiding her team to the NACC tournament. Her senior season was marked by dominance on the boards, ranking 6th in the conference in rebounding with an average of 7.7 rebounds per game. By the end of her collegiate career, Shataya amassed an impressive 1,208 points and 676 rebounds, leaving an enduring legacy on the programs she represented.

    Coaching Legacy

    After her illustrious playing career, Shataya seamlessly transitioned into coaching, sharing her knowledge and passion with aspiring athletes. For over a decade, she dedicated herself to coaching at Tay Fishers Camps and Clinics, leaving an indelible impact on countless young players. Her coaching endeavors extended to Summer Sizzle in Kingston, the Biddy League, and AAU basketball, where she nurtured talent and instilled a love for the game in her players.

    PGA: Cultivating Dreams

    In 2019, Shataya embarked on a new chapter by founding the Point God Academy (PGA), driven by her desire to empower young athletes to pursue their dreams. PGA serves as a beacon of hope for aspiring basketball players, offering mentorship, guidance, and support to those with a burning passion for the game. Through PGA, Shataya continues to uplift and inspire, fulfilling her mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young individuals.

    Leadership and Legacy

    As a USA Basketball Licensed Coach and NY State licensed basketball coach, Shataya's expertise and leadership are widely recognized within the basketball community. Her dedication to excellence, both as a player and coach, has left an indelible mark on the sport. Shataya McComb's legacy transcends the confines of the basketball court, embodying the spirit of perseverance, determination, and mentorship.
